Plans for native S3 / WebDAV / SMB sync support?

I noticed that for synchronization, the recommended path is usually Royal Server. As a single user, setting up a full Server instance feels a bit heavy for my needs.

I know I can mount OneDrive/Dropbox as a local drive to sync the document file, but I was wondering: Are there any plans to support generic protocols like S3, WebDAV, or SMB natively in the future?

It would be great to have a “Bring Your Own Storage” option built-in without relying on OS-level mounts or 3rd party sync tools.

Also, a quick side question on localization: I saw this thread: https://community.royalapps.com/t/looking-for-help-with-localization/253 Is this project still active?

Thanks!

Hi!

there are currently no plans to support other protocols. The file system support is quite robust although not really recommended for team usage because of the sync latency and potential merge conflicts. As you mentioned, most other storage/sync solutions have file system sync support therefore, it’s the safest way to go through the file system. All other protocols not only need to be implemented, they also need to be maintained and supported covering potentially multiple versions.

Regarding the localization of Royal TS: our previous translation provider went out of business and we are looking for alternatives to bring back community support for our localized versions but right now we don’t really have a solution.

Stefan
