MFA Support on RDP

Hello all, I have recently been tasked with enforcing MFA on all RDP connections to servers. I know our infrastructure team heavily uses Royal TS so I just want to confirm if this will be an issue when implementing, or does Royal TS support this?

Also, if anyone has been through this same thing, I would appreciate if you’d share your experiences and roadblocks.

Thanks!

Hi,
enforcing MFA on your RDP connections should not cause any issues in Royal TS since we support MFA for RDP. I should point out that we added
TOTP MFA code generation for Credentials in Royal TS 7.03.50102 which can be helpful. You can find more information on MFA generation in the following link: Auto Fill for Web Page Connections - Knowledge Base - Royal Apps

I also want to point out a couple of things:

  1. RDP doesn’t natively support MFA
  2. There are multiple vendors/system which extend MFA by attaching a one time password (OTP) to the username and password. This should work with Royal TS using our MFA feature we have added to our credentials.
  3. There are vendors which use their own proxy/frontend to support MFA. In this case, it will not work with Royal TS.

I strongly recommend to do extensive testing and look at all the options available. Feel free to post your findings or issues here. We’re happy to help where we can.
