Ability to grant temporary access to a credential

In our company use case we will be using two main documents.
One for accessing customer connections which all staff will have access to and be able to view passwords, and then another document for management and internal infrastructure.

Often during projects some staff need to access internal infrastructure and currently with RDM we can give a temporary passphrase that allows the user access to the connection without passing through any credentials.

I’m wondering if it would be possible to implement something like this with Royal Server, perhaps allow a connection to be shared with a user then when accessed from their side simply has a reference to a credential inside the other document so no credentials are directly given or exposed to the user.

I understand lockdown has the hide password feature but this would still allow access to the connection which is what we want to control on a use case basis here

Thanks for the suggestion — this is definitely something we’ve been thinking about as well.

We’re currently working on Royal Connect Desktop and Royal Connect Server which, at some point, are planned to support ACL-based permissions for items. Once that foundation is in place, it should make features like temporary credential access possible.

That said, it’s still early days for Royal Connect and we can’t really make any promises yet regarding if or when a feature like this will become available.

Hi Stefan,

Thank you for your quick response.
I have just been reading about Royal Connect and it sounds like something which would fit our needs perfectly.

We will have to figure out a method around the temporary access for now but we look forward to hearing more on Royal Connect.

Thank you

You’re very welcome!
